Women in the City

What: Women in the City is an immersive audio walk created to celebrate Women in Tāmaki Makaurau. The walk is a kaleidoscope of real-life stories, biographies of iconic wāhine, anecdotes and everyday women woven together through a fictional narrative.

The women’s voices come together in a beautifully curated audio story that celebrates their legacy as women who live, work, love, lose, forgive and find their own path to feel alive in the city.

Where:  Auckland CBD. Begins at Takutai Square and ends at the Rainbow Bridge, Karangahape Road.

How: Walk from from point to point while listening to the audio guide. Download the route on a printable pdf or access it via google maps.

Who: This walk is suitable for adults and teenagers. The narrative includes a poem with adult language.

Difficulty: An easy amble with small hills and stairs taking 1 hour 18 minutes to complete, including stops.

What do you need: You need a mobile device to stream the walk and we strongly recommend headphones.

Access information: This walk routes you through Myers park and up the stairs to St Kevins Arcade. The wheeled alternative route is via Mayoral Drive, Queen Street and Karangahape Road.
